The first “Made in Şişhane” activities took place between 12-17 september 2006, at the old Galata Bridge-Balat, within the context of idw (İstanbul Design Week). “Made in Şişhane”, organized an exhibition and a series of panel discussions. For each exhibited work, the work’s production process within the district, its story and the route it followed were also explained with the purpose of exposing the existing variety and the production networks.

In 2007 Dutch management training center De Baak came with a group of young Dutch executive managers to Şişhane in order to give their view on possible ways to develop the district. Also an art project about the light shops by Teike Asselbergs was shown during the 2007 Galata Visibility Days. Artist Anna Sala incorporated Şişhane in her ‘Istanbul Map’ project.

In 2008 Workshops and research were conducted in collaboration with ITU Industrial Design Department and the Design Lab of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.
